This set of shops includes a Wimpy Bar. Wimpy was originally an American company and opened the first Wimpy bar in the UK, in 1954. Fast food and Rock n roll arrived at about the same time. As of 2024 there are still over 60 Wimpy Bars in the UK.

The Hilsea Southdown model bus depot is based on a real building.

The Southdown bus company and the Hilsea Southdown model bus depot

The Southdown bus company was founded in 1915 and bought by the National bus Company in 1969. Notably, the Hilsea model can have signage for either. Consequently,the fleet name became redundant in 1989. Unfortunately, The building has since been demolished and the site is now occupied by flats. Moreover, the building was much deeper than the low-relief model for practical reasons.

Lastly, the Southdown bus livery was green and cream and there are several Southdown bus models available.
