Description

This Atlas Editions model of a French, Dinky Ford Camion Bache Calberson is a reproduction of a 1949 model. These are worth collecting as they are inexpensive at the moment. Moreover, an original model would cost from, £150 to £600, depending on the condition.

Dinky toys began in 1935 and they were also made in France, by Meccano. The Ford camion model was produced from 1949 until 1952 and the original number was 25JJ. Dinky France used this cab design frequently. Consequently, it could be seen as a truck, tanker, tipper and dustcart.

The model

The Dinky Ford Camion Bache Calberson model comes in a reproduction box and has Atlas editions embossed on the base. As was common at the time of the original model there is no interior.

The Calberson livery was well known in France and looks good. Calberson had begun in 1921 and the distinctive yellow and red livery became a common site.

The model is to 1:64 scale and is about 10cm long. Additionally, the paintwork is nicely applied and the model feels quite heavy. There is also a cast in tow hook at the rear

The original vehicle

The original vehicle was built at the Poissy plant from 1940. however the plant was taken over by the Germans, until it was liberated in 1944. The truck was based on the 5 ton Ford F698W.
